Why Boon Capital
What makes these programmes worth your time and attention
The alternatives exist. Here is an honest account of how Boon Capital differs — and why those differences matter for adults 40+ navigating financial life in Thailand.
← Back to HomeSix Qualities Worth Examining
These are the characteristics that participants most often mention when they describe what the programmes gave them.
Educator Expertise, Not Sales Expertise
The people who lead Boon Capital programmes have backgrounds in adult education, research, and public finance — not in selling financial products. That shapes every session.
- Questions welcomed and taken seriously
- Pacing calibrated to the group in the room
- No vested interest in what you conclude
Genuinely Thai Context
The curriculum addresses the Thai regulatory environment directly — not as an afterthought adapted from a programme designed for another country.
- Thai Revenue Department terminology explained
- Thai inheritance and property transfer rules
- Expatriate considerations addressed within each programme
Small Groups That Allow Real Discussion
Every cohort is capped. Not because we cannot fill a larger room, but because discussion requires a room where discussion is possible.
- Maximum twelve participants per cohort
- Diverse experience levels enrich each session
- Facilitator knows each participant's context
No Product at the End
A programme that leads to a product recommendation is a sales event. Ours do not. The relationship ends when the programme ends, unless you choose to attend another.
- No referral arrangements with financial providers
- No follow-up calls to discuss investment options
- No commission from anything you subsequently do
Materials That Continue to Be Useful
Glossaries, reference cards, and reading lists accompany each programme. These are designed to be kept and consulted — not just to fill a folder on the day.
- Reference card for the Thai tax year
- Glossary of Thai financial and legal terms
- Recommended reading for continuing education
A Pace That Respects Adult Life
The programmes do not assume you can clear your schedule. Sessions are held on weekends or in early evenings. The Apprenticeship meets monthly over four months, not daily over two weeks.
- Weekend and early evening scheduling
- Pre-reading sent in advance, not handed out on arrival
- Time between sessions allows reflection
Looking at Each Quality More Closely
Educator Expertise
The distinction between an educator and a financial salesperson is not merely ethical — it shapes what happens in the room. An educator can say "I don't know" without consequence. An educator has no need to steer a conversation toward a particular product. An educator's measure of success is whether participants understand more when they leave than when they arrived.
Our facilitators hold backgrounds in adult education, legal studies, and research publishing. Each programme curriculum is reviewed annually against current Thai regulations. Where the regulatory context has changed between cohorts, the materials change too.
Structured Methodology
Each programme follows a deliberate pedagogical structure. Pre-reading arrives before sessions — not as homework you are expected to complete under pressure, but as material that allows you to enter each discussion with some familiarity. Sessions then build on that reading rather than re-delivering it.
In the Investing Apprenticeship, participants keep a written learning journal. This is not assessed or graded. It is reviewed in confidence by the facilitator before each monthly meeting, allowing the session to address what is actually on participants' minds rather than what a generic curriculum assumes it should be.
Attentive Service
Enquiries are answered within one working day, personally, by someone who can answer questions about the programmes — not by a form acknowledgement. If you are uncertain which programme suits you, a brief exchange by email or phone is often enough to make that clearer.
After enrolment, you receive session preparation materials in good time before each session — not the day before. If a session must be rescheduled for any reason, affected participants are informed promptly and offered alternative cohort dates.
Considered Pricing
Programme fees reflect the actual cost of running small, carefully prepared cohorts in central Bangkok. They are not set to compete with online courses, which are a different thing. They are set to cover the preparation, facilitation, and materials that make each programme useful.
The Thai Tax Companion runs at 5,400 THB for three sessions. Conversations on Inheritance is 8,500 THB for a two-session weekend. The Investing Apprenticeship is 11,500 THB across four monthly meetings. All prices are inclusive — there are no additional costs for materials.
Outcomes Worth Measuring
We do not measure outcomes in terms of portfolio performance, because that is not what these programmes address. We measure them in terms of participants' self-reported confidence in reading financial documents, asking productive questions of their advisers, and understanding the regulatory context of decisions they are already facing.
Written feedback collected after each cohort consistently identifies these as areas of meaningful improvement. Participants who attend more than one programme over time often describe a cumulative effect — each programme building on vocabulary and conceptual frameworks established in previous ones.

What Is Not Available Elsewhere
A few features of the Boon Capital programmes that, to our knowledge, are not offered in combination by any other provider in Bangkok.
The Confidential Learning Journal
In the Investing Apprenticeship, each participant keeps a written journal between sessions. It is reviewed in confidence by the facilitator before the next meeting. No other Bangkok programme we are aware of uses this approach. It creates a private, ongoing thread of reflection that shapes how each session is conducted.
Mixed-Nationality Household Attention
The inheritance programme explicitly addresses the situation of Thai-international households — a common configuration in Bangkok that is often glossed over in programmes designed for either audience alone. Questions of property transfer across citizenship boundaries and beneficiary nomination in mixed-nationality situations are addressed directly.
Expatriate Tax Considerations Within the Main Programme
Rather than offering a separate "expat track," the Thai Tax Companion integrates expatriate-specific considerations — including the distinction between Thai-sourced and foreign-sourced income and the remittance rule — into the main programme. Both Thai and expatriate participants benefit from understanding the full picture.
Per-Cohort Curriculum Review
Thai tax deductions, fund regulations, and inheritance law change more often than most education providers update their materials. Before each cohort begins, the facilitator reviews and updates the curriculum against current regulations. Participants can be confident the materials reflect the rules as they currently stand.
